2nd gen Neon lowering spring install.

Stock first gen ACR springs vs. 2nd gen lowering springs.  Below is a comparison of the two. They are both 150 lbs front and 120 lbs rear in spring rate.

Above are Dodge Neon 1st gen stock springs and 2nd gen lowering springs.  The top row are front springs and the bottom are rear springs.  The four on the left are from my 1997 ACR coupe.  The four on the right I purchased from Forum Dodge to lower my 2001 R/T.  Part numbers and approx height for the top row, left to right- 5273416-11 5/8in, 5273416- 11 5/8in, 5273413- 11 1/4in, (pass side) 5273415- 11 in.(drivers side)  Bottom row left to right (all springs measure approx. 10 7/8 inches) - 4656284, 4656284, 4656285, 4656285.

I can't see much difference between  the rear springs, the second gen lowering springs appear to be the same height as the stock first gen ACR springs.  The front ones on the other hand are clearly shorter. The front drivers side 2nd gen lowering spring is clearly about 5/8 of an inch shorter than the front stock 1st gen spring.  The front passenger side lowering spring is about 3/8 of an inch shorter than the front stock 1st gen spring.   Assuming the 2nd gen lowering springs provide an evenly lowered car, I would expect a 2nd gen car lowered with 1st gen ACR springs to be about 5/8 of an inch higher in the front on the drivers side and 3/8 of an inch higher on the passenger side.

I am sending back the rear 2nd gen lowering springs since they are so strikingly similar to the 1st gen stock rear springs and using the stock 1st gen springs on the rear.  I'll use the 2nd gen lowering springs on the front.

Swaybar comparison:  There 1st gen and second gen swaybars are not similar at all.  Pics below:

1st gen stock ACR rear bar (17mm) on top, 2nd gen stock ACR bar (19mm) on bottom.  Notice that the 2nd gen bar is approx. 3/4 of an inch longer from end to end. (where end links attach)  The 2nd gen bar is 1 and 3/8 inches longer from back to front as well.  Also end links attach through veritical holes in the 1st gen bar and through horizontal holes in the 2nd gen bar.

Pictured above is a side by side comparison of my 1st gen ACR's stock rear springs (4656284) and the 2nd gen rear lowering springs.(4656285)

Above is a picture of my stock rear ACR springs positioned on each side of a rear 2nd gen lowering spring.  They appear to be very similar, both approx. 10 7/8 inches tall.

Here is a pic of my homebrew intake made to Chris's recipe.  Workes great and cost less than $30 plus cost of K&N.
